Aventura Marão Clube

Aventura Marão Clube (AMC) is a no profit association created in 1993 by a group of young people of Amarante (actually AMC has 480 members). The main objective is to promote a healthy way of life among the population (especially Youth) and nowadays runs three different sections: Mountain

Bikes, Canoeing and Fair Trade. Under this last one AMC opened in 1999 the first Portuguese fair trade shop and participates in actions of promotion and training at national and international youth programs and also organizes, since 2000, international Workcamps about different themes such as environmental preservation, archaeology or fair trade. Since November 2008 we run Casa da Juventude de Amarante (Youth Centre and Hostel) and we are quite involved in Youth in Action (Youth Exchanges, Training Courses, EVS, etc.), LLL (Grundtvig, LDV, etc.) and new Erasmus+. In the last years we coordinated around 70 projects involving more than 600 local youngsters in volunteering and international mobility.

Porto di Terra

Porto di Terra is a young youth organization officially founded in 2015 yet existing as an informal group since 2012. Its members are all below 35 years of age and experienced in various fields linked to rural social innovation like: agro-ecology, sustainable agriculture, permaculture, participatory approaches to rural development, community building, human rights. Over the years we have developed strong national and international networks with other organizations, farmers, municipalities, international development agencies and Universities. Porto di Terra is both a small productive reality producing food and handicrafts and a social reality.

We organize capacity building courses on healthy living, community building, permaculture, bio-architecture etc. We provide consultancies on these subjects as well. We are located in a land-locked rural part of Sicily that is beautiful as much an under populated and with poor access to economic resources.

One of our main aims is to increase the active participation of local youth in the development and innovation of the area providing ways to enlarge perspectives, raise awareness about the locally available resources and sustainable ways to use them. We are also involved with the local government in a long term project of rural development considering in particular the food-chain and land access policies.

Youth Innovation
